had friends from out of town in and we wanted to go to an restaurant with a different ambiance and a good casual menu. az 88 was a perfect fit. order one of their great martinis ( love the apple) and you have a perfect fit!!

this was one of the most enjoyable appetizers that i have ever had! the crispy chips were sturdy and individually layered with the perfect amount of bleu cheese and hot sauce. their flavor was perfect and they stand out as a highlight of my vacation. the burgers at az 88 are served in a basket with waffle fries, crudite, and fruit. i decided on the burger alfredo (with tomato slices, fresh spinach, and a sauce of parmesan cheese, butter and spices) although i loved the presentation, i was slightly disappointed with the burger. the beef itself was pretty good, everything seemed fresh, but still somehow it seemed a little “blah”. the sauce was not what i would consider to be alfredo sauce, and seemed more like a little butter and

not for grandma. the food is very reasonable priced and large so it is encouraged to add only $3.00 extra to share one plate, for around $13. two people can share a 8oz chicken sandwich with house made waffle fries and veg/fruit garnish.

but grandma might have a heart attack if she finds the bathroom. (you just have to see it) dark , all mirrored neon lights. unique artwork adorns the place.

best appetizer!. while vacationing in phoenix there was one particular day where we had some activities planned in scottsdale. i knew that we would need to find a delicious place to have an early dinner so i visited urbanspoon to help me pick out the perfect place. i decided on az 88, and i am very glad that i did!
the atmosphere… full bar, interesting artwork, modern furniture, and some of the most peculiar bathrooms that i have ever seen.
the service… our server was excellent; friendly, helpful and full of spunk, and she also gave us plenty of recommendations for local things to do later that evening.
the food… appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, desserts and great cocktails!

(my god, am i complaining about being too healthy?) i guess it is just a matter of opinion. now with all of this being said, i still really enjoyed az 88. the combination of service, atmosphere, and that amazing appetizer made it worthwhile. if i were in the area again it would be a place that i would want to return, so thumbs up on a great experience!

terrible experience. the food was just ok. we asked the waiter a question about the drinks and he didn't answer, he just threw the menu on the table and left! never going back!

trendy. food's not bad. atmosphere is very smarmy. not on my short list.

the best people watching and drinks in the valley. great bar food and cute wait staff. it rocks!! been going for 12 years!

good for expensive drinks only. been there several times, i love good food but this place is okay not anything special. if you want a good but expensive martini this place is for you.

great service and awesome cocktails!. the best appletini ever! the service was incredible and got us through in time to catch our play at the theatre. burger was so-so - i prefer delux, but the cocktails were great! did you see the paperclip xmas tree....amazing!

love it~ always fun. ate here a couple months ago with a group of 8 ladies before seeing david sedaris live at the arts next door. our waiter was so patient and nice, and he got everything right. our wine was fab, salads were scrumptious and az 88 scrambled to help us all sit together. i always have had great meals here.

au poivvvvree!!!. doesn't get any better than a au poivre burger and a beer late at night after getting your ass handed to you in a kitchen for 6 hours.

best grilled cheese.... and the drinks don't suck either.

good food, good portions great price. yes, this restaurant is a little hard to find for someone visiting scottsdale but we came based on a good review at fodors and were very happy with the find. i was a little under-dressed in t-shirt and shorts for the swank stylings but no matter they served me and my better dressed family members. the food was very fresh, well portioned and the cost was very reasonable.
