satisfying cajun gourmet!. today i had lunch here and i didn't encounter any problem with the dress code. i was wearing a t-shirt, shorts & flip flops. i had the sweet & spicy shrimp for an appetizer and the main entree was the crawfish atchafalaya. the food is a step above semolina's, a tad bit pricey, but worth it! it was hot, fresh and i didn't leave hungry. the atmosphere is nice and quaint. i could see this place at night being romantic.

new orleans gourmet slow traditional food. take a minute and process that. brilliant and creative specials, quality ingredients, a classically new orleans cafe atmosphere, and a top tier sunday jazz brunch with a dyi bloody mary bar. if you are nervous about making your own, don't worry someone will help you out with a smile. great customer service centered around the individuals dining there not just focused on surviving their shifts, which are always busy.

best meal of the weekend. loved cafe atchafalaya! sunday brunch was the best way to end our vacation to nola. i shared the eggs benedict, treme, and bananas foster french toast. they were all delicious. our waiter, renee, had quite the personality--and took great care of us. he had recommended ordering a plate of the french toast for the table of 5 so everyone could try--mmmmgood. i look forward to checking it out next time i'm in nola--hopefully try their lunch/dinner menu.

yum!. just left and it was delicious! saturday and sundays they offer a bloody mary bar. you choose your vodka at the bar then head to the buffet to fix the rest. i was in heaven! for the food i ordered the eggs louisianne, crab cake, poached eggs, hollandaise and potatoes. it was fabulous. my husband had the fish tacos which he also thoroughly enjoyed. just make sure to reserve a table! it's a very small place and from what i could tell they had no tables for walk ins. it's a little out of the way, but will definitely make my way, but so worth it!

the front desk is a weak point. getting seated will be your primary challenge. however, once you're seated it's well worth the effort. great cocktails and super food. we had crab cakes and free form ravioli as appetizers then moved on to redfish and halibut. all was worth returning for. service was leisurely, at just the right pace to enjoy food and conversation.

wow!. on our last night in nola, we made reservations to dine here. although we are a family of food lovers, we were starting to become a little bored of dining out.. nothing was standing out anymore. this dinner, however, was amazing! i can't remember everything we ordered, but we got just about every appetizer.. all of which were incredible. we followed that up with 2 different fish dishes and one shrimp and grits. the desserts were also amazing. can't say enough good things about this restaurant! can't wait to come back one day.

we had an amazing night; service, food, everything. the bartender "ice" was fantastically knowledgeable; everything he mixed was interesting and delicious. all of the dishes were exceptional, but the two that were unforgettable were the quail and the bread pudding. don't ask, just order them. nothing surprised us as much as meeting the owner tony. tony was the embodiment of a gracious host, combined with the personality of your favorite hilarious relative. in all, one of the great dining experiences.

overrated. new orleans is known for some great seafood, however this is not the place to go for it. i've had much better meals for a much better price. i also feel like this place is trying to hard to be "fancy". we're in new orleans, not the hamptons.

0 by marc smith on 22 may, 2015 where to eat/drink share this post if you are looking for an escape from the party atmosphere of the french quarter for your saturday or sunday morning brunch, may i recommend atchafalaya restaurant on louisiana ave. here you will find a tranquil home-like setting serving contemporary creole cuisine and a self-serve bloody mary bar . that got your attention didn’t it. ask any of the locals and they will tell you that atchafalaya is one of the best places to go for brunch in new orleans. it’s casual, friendly, and they even have live music playing while you eat. this is quintessential new orleans, and i can’t wait to taste some good old comforting creole food. atchafalaya restaurant new orleans first i think you need a lesson is how to say atchafalaya. i got it wrong the first few times until a waiter corrected me. when you say it, the R

neighborhood restaurant with very decent food. they are not so friendly to neighbors and food is nothing to write home about. better options in this neighborhood .
they have all the usual suspects on their menu.

the best brunch i have ever had. we ordered 2 cocktails and she got the first egg/ brunch selection with some sort of andouille... i forgot exactly what she had because i could care about was mine: it was a special they ran 2 poached eggs on alligator sausage and red beans and rice cakes. i highly recommend this place.

great food in a restaurant that's out of the madness of the french quarter. we had the steak and eggs special and the crawfish etoufee omelette. both were awesome. probably the best part of the meal was the bananas foster french toast, however. it is sinful! the only negative about the experience was the fact that they never said how much the special was. it turned out to be $30 which i thought was a bit pricey for a brunch dish. other than that the service was amazing.

praised by many for dinner, but moreso by locals for brunch, atchafalaya recently extended the weekend-morning meal to include both thursday, friday as well as monday morning service, the always-packed restaurant at 901 louisiana avenue already generating a small line at 10am with the dining room and bar both three-quarters filled on thursday by noon.

no longer the “hidden neighborhood gem” it once was, a creative menu of creole inspiration from chef chris lynch enticing diners in a room of reclaimed woods and artifacts post-katrina, those with the foresight to book a table at atchafalaya will find warm greetings at the hostess stand overlooking a diy bloody mary bar beneath articles touting accolades, the full-bar opposite ready to supply those in search of alternative beer, wine or spirits.

seated comfortably at a mid-size four top, sleep-eyed service a bit tight at first but improving as the meal went on, it was from a well-culled menu of brunch plates that decisions were made, a small plate of warm cornbread muffins served with whipped butter ready to whet appetites alongside rounds of spicy alligator sausage plus a cup of creamy yellow soup that offered almost as much fresh-picked crab as it did the pureed corn it was mixed in.

deciding to choose atchafalaya’s classics as entrees, though a few recent specials were also quite tempting, the challenge was one of deciding which was best as all three plates offered something different and delicious, the fried chicken surely the most straight forward and perfectly crisp with good gravy while the pain perdu was a custard soaked masterpiece that ate deceivingly light, the hash spinning tradition on its head by adding fruit to crispy duck with rich hollandaise balanced by the salty and bright vinaigrette.
