this year my husband decided to surprise me with a surprise reservation and we went to the aroma osteria. once inside we checked our coats and were immediately shown to our table.  the dining room lighting is dim to perhaps add to the atmosphere, but it was almost too dark.  i quickly glance through the cocktail and wine list and decide on a limoncello based drink. on the table is a small dish of olive oil with both calamatta and green olives as well as a basket of bread. the couple at the table next to us is preparing to leave and i ask the woman what she had for dinner and whether she enjoyed it.  i have done this in the past with my sons present and they were mortified.  they retell the story with shock and horror.  on this night, i am answered with enthusiasm that not only is everything on the menu just wonderful, but she had the fish stew and her husband enjoyed a pasta dish with broccoli rabe

always the best. this is a special place. the food is always good, but a dinner out needs to more than just about food. the wine selection must always be unfailingly good, and the hospitality and service personal. aroma osteria is fabulous in all categories - food, wine, service, and personal attention from the owners and hosts. so far, nothing in the hudson valley beats this place.

divine. went for lunch and was thrilled by the experience. everything we had from start to finish was perfect. perfectly balanced flavors, great quality meats, pasta cooked to perfection and great wine. can't wait to go back!

a hudson valley favorite. aroma is still our go to destination with visitors to show off the best the hudson valley has to offer. a top notch kitchen offers classic italian staples made with local quality ingredients. the service staff at aroma is one of the best in the area. i posted a more detailed restaurant description under blogger reviews - northcountryrambler.com

went out to celebrate my birthday. everything was great. from the minute you walk in you feel like you are in a tuscan villa. cocktails, apps, dinner and dessert was phenomenal. thank you for a great evening.

the end of a meal at aroma is like finishing a wonderful book that you really didn’t want to end. thoroughly enjoyable, but you’re a little sad it’s over. the good news is, there’s always next tuesday!

good food- but be careful. the food here is almost always top notch. sometimes though, they go overboard with the salt. the fried calamari came out so salty one time we had to send it back. the waitress came back with another plate which was supposedly a different batch. i think it was the same plate they took away. i couldn't eat it even though i like some of my food salted. the staff is always wonderful but the owner isn't much of a people person.

fantastic, rustic italian. aroma osteria sits on a hilltop with pretty views of the surrounding mountains, which wins automatic points for "romantic setting." add in the multi-course menu style, the fact that everything is bursting with perfectly balanced flavor, and that half the items on the menu glow yellow with high qualify saffron, and i'm in love. i went with a boyfriend and three generations of his family; i can only imagine what a memorable date night one could make here.

want to hear about my birthday dinner? good. because i wanted to tell you. the evening of my birthday i had dinner with sandi (my mother), neil, eric and pop. we went to aroma osteria in wappingers falls. you may remember my fantastic meal there during restaurant week . when we arrived sandi ordered a bottle of prosecco (you know i love it) as well as appetizers for the table. fried calamari, two orders of the burrata special (as you may recall i absolutely love burrata - the mozzarella-like cheese with a creamy center), a sausage and lentil dish, mussels for pop and salad of beets, arugula, pignoli and ricotta salata for me. i've had this salad here before. it is just such a simple, perfect combination. the beets with the peppery arugula. the ricotta is salty and the pignoli add a great crunch. it's lightly dressed with just a little lemon and olive oil. simple and perfect. for my entrée i had homemade cavatelli with a pork ragu. few things in the world make me as happy as a pork rag
