one has got to love merchant square - the lively atmosphere, good crowd, and beautiful interiors - undoubtedly among glasgow's best. from the range of restaurants within, arisaig is probably among the fancy ones with its exotic food (venision, rabbit...), and the range of silverware. i am all for an affordable fine dining experience, but does this place live up to expectations - perhaps not.
my chicken was too dry, with not enough jus. the chips on the side were cold, not crisp enough, and just too thick (yes, those late night fish and chip shops around the city do a better job..) the best part of my meal was probably the bread, buttered greens and condiments (the mustard did make my meal edible.)
overall, the food was below average. i would recommend the neighbouring restaurants.
