some of the best pizza on either coast. as a philadelphian, i am very critical of what is passed as new york style pizza. so often, they lie. the charlatan's pie crust is typically too thick even for chicago pizza, the cheese looks imitation, and the toppings and sauce will fall to the table if held perpendicular -- that's what i typically get when i'm outside of philly.
but amici's knows how to make a great new york pizza. the crust is thin, yet rigid and tasty. the sauce and cheese is exquisite. it's got just the right amount of grease that a good pie always has. and the taste is in the top-10 (maybe even top-5) of best pizza i ever had.
amici's caesar salad is also one of the best caesar's i ever had. it had just the right amount of anchovy, which is missing in so many salads.
the amici's in mountain view is in a hip part of town, with lots of young college types and nice decor. the restaurant is immacualtely clean and the brick oven hearkens back to my days in italy whan i was in the navy. i can't recommend amici's more.
