went on thursday while visiting glasgow, service first class, excellent chilled cobra lager.

i told them i had a nut allergy and they were very helpful in sorting me a excellent curry and the nan bread was the size of a elephants ear. more than enough for two, also noted that the chef who cooked your meal presented it to your table. staff fantastic.

i will not recommend this place as i had high expectations. the food was over spicy as if red chillies were added over the top. the food we wanted to order was not available, some dishes we ordered were denied after delivering some dishes, like nans were brought on table but told that the mains we ordered were not available anymore. poor crowd management and delivery of dishes.

i must say this is a must visit indo-pak restaurant once you are in glasgow...the chicken liver kadai was my family's favourite..staff were attentive and always ready to help to select the menu ...it's the same service standards extended to all customers ...mango lassi was also superb only problem was no internet provided by the hotel

absolutely awful. the service was horrendous, staff were extremely rude and i incredibly disappointed. even the manager was aggressive and rude. the food was only above average and the price was too high. i really would not recommend this place unless you are looking for a terrible time.

love this place, they have kept the price down in comparison to other popular indian restaurants, yet the decor and quality of food is fantastic. they are famous for bringing their naans on a stand

this is my favourite indian/pakistani restaurant in glasgow. it's the most authentic indian food i've had here (particularly compared to bukharah, mother india etc). the lamb chops are to die for and the naan is brilliant. :)

my favourite indian restaurant in glasgow. i go monthly and have never been disappointed. i'm slowly but surely working my way through the menu and the staff are always great at recommending new dishes. 10/10 if you haven't tried akbars you are definitely missing out.

i chose 'i like' akbars as it was mostly good but it is definitely far from the best indian meal you can find in glasgow. the place was packed which is always a good sign. one of the best things about this place is the staff. our waiters were extremely attentive and helpful which is a good thing in a busy place. onto the food. it was ok. it isn't going to blow your mind or make you want to rush back the next day or even week. we are still trying to figure out why they gave us olives as a garnish with the starters. a bit confusing. the lamb rogan josh was tasty, lacked a bit of punch, but was good. the vegetable rogan josh was slightly disappointing though. again no heat to it but it was mostly large wedges of tomato with a couple of slices of carrot. it felt like they had filled it out with tomato wedges and little else (there was one pea just for a touch of variety). both the rice and the giant naan bread were nice.

bit of a middle of the road meal but not enough to dislike it. nothing special in the sea of indian restaurants glasgow has.

as our food came out, the waiters were nothing if not attentive, but it was hard to get a moment's peace without someone popping up to inquire whether we were happy with our meal. they do have a good array of veggie dishes to choose from and the food was good and a fair price, however all our anticipation of the glistening charred naan breads seen through the windows left us a bit disappointed with the doughy bland naan we got.

the bradford legend has popped up in glasgow on the former site of balbirs tiffin rooms just a kick in the shirt from charing cross. we were met at the door by the head petal thrower and immediately taken to a first class table overlooking sauchiehall st. the interior is modern but tacky by upmarket glasgow standards but as ever we weren’t there to lick the wall coverings. at first i thought we were going to be subjected to the big sell up but our order taker (aka the waiter) nixon…el presidente to his friends, very quickly got the message and realised we knew what we wanted and didn’t need any sales pitch. tandoori lamb chops and keema and cheese samosas to start followed by chicken karahi and lamb and potato balti was the order of the day? the chops were a bit different from what i expected…….not your usual over the top tandoori spice mix but a far more subtle flavour, deliciously tender with a hidden kick…! the samosas are delicately flavoured and probably best enjoyed without havin

akbars what can i say, well...... i visited this fantastic establishment a few weeks ago (before the pre holiday health kick) and ive been raving about it ever since. the pakistani food here is absolutely delicious and i urge anyone to give it a go. much more friendly, helpful and tasty than a apparently highly thought of restaurant i visited recently. i'm shocked at how few reviews this eatery has recieved. on arrival we were seated at a prime table and our waiter introduced himself (albeit slightly difficult to understand his strong accent) and explained how the menu worked. he asked if we were celebrating which gladly we weren't as we soon realised that if we had been, we would have got a fancy knickerbocker glory complete with fireworks on the house. the food arrived quickly and my goodness it was soooo good. also the traditional asian dessert the gajar halva was exceptional. so glad we tried it. go on, try it out. it's blooming brilliant!

i agree with the 2 critics reviews. i've been to many indians, including the legendary delhi darbar in bishopbriggs and this place rivals the darbar and destroys the other competition. i have no clue how the "like it" percentage rating is so low so far. if you are reading reviews and deciding whether to go to akbars or not, my advice is read what the critics have to say. the problem with scotland is there is to much inbreeding. the decor in the restaurant is modern and it has a nice atmosphere. the service is second to none, the waiters are very atentative and know the menu well. i had the fish pakora for starter which was light and cooked to perfection. the chicken and spinach main i had was flavourful and a very generous portion, it was fantastic. i had the gajar halva which was a home made indian spin on carrot cake with home made ice cream. it was the best desert i've had in a long time. when an indian restaurant is recomended by indian people, you go! and by jingo you enjoy! an excellent experience and i recommend this establishment to anyone.
