even during restaurant week, abacus didn't disappoint. at first, i thought the decor was going to be stuffy but it manages a tasteful sophistication that doesn't alienate younger diners. the menu was impeccably delivered, and without the usual compromises seen during restaurant week. i had fabulous potato conch and possibly the best, most succulent duck breast (over grits) that i have ever had. while i won't be a regular, i'll keep abacus in my pocket for those splurge meals and special occasions. it's worth it!

abacusolutely fabaculous!. we wanted it to be a very special evening. our guests were very special. our spirits and expectations were very high. abacus exceeded all expectations. the food, the service and the atmosphere absolultely fabulous. a lot of credit for our magical evening goes to aaron who, with a keen sense of timing (when to jump in and when to hang back) guided us to great choices with cocktails, food and wine, starting the party with those other-worldly lobster shooters. thank you aaron and thank you abacus.
we very highlu recommend abacus, especially for speaical occassions!

the menu is asian-influenced with a huge selection of sushi and sashimi, as well as small plates and large plates, including steaks from allen brothers. looking at the menu choices, we saw that on monday through thursday they offer tasting menus and we thought that would be a great way to sample everything. with a choice between five course and eight course tasting, we discussed the choice (the phrase “go big or go home” came up at least once) and decided on eight. after asking about allergies (none at the table) and preferences (not big on onions mentioned and echoed), we were off.

awesome!. i was recently in dallas and went to abacus (it had been a few years). it was as good as i remembered. the lobster shooters are as unique as the robust sauce accompanying the buffalo filet. i like a lot of different flavors and this was it!

the wine selections are vast, even if a little overpriced. the 1966 port was amazing.

the server was jennifer who was amazing and took great care of my parents.

create a unique dining experience!. this is the type of restaurant you should go to if you are a foodie looking for items not usually offered at more casual restaurants. otherwise, your just gonna pay a lot for something that's probably just as tasty at a cheaper place.

examples: go for the walu, the lobster shooters, duck, and especially, the foie gras.
* beware the possible adverse gastrointestinal effects that are inherent to walu, proceed with caution hahaha

service was top notch- the server took a lot of time to suggest items, tweak some to our liking, and to create a meal with items that really complimented each other!

abra-cadabra-cus. magic kitchen prepares never ending array of amazing food. after more than ten years abacus remains one of dallas' best dining experiences.

have no idea where complaints about "slow" or "bad" service are coming from. ffs this is not "fast" food. this degree of perfection on a plate takes time to assemble even in a magic kitchen.

have never experienced less than professional service even when i throw a curve ball to the kitchen by adding or otherwise changing the order after giving it, which btw shouldn't be done unless you expect to expre$$ your gratitude accordingly.

i really wanted to love this place. the roasted corn soup was great, however the tenderloin fell short. it was a good medium rare, but i got a piece with alot of connective tissue that was difficult to cut and impossible to chew. hope you all have better luck.

will have to add this to my top five list. went for restaurant week and the menu was above and beyond many other places. the service was impressive for such a busy place and we were not rushed out. i will return!!

asian-international fusion at its best. a variety of options and quality presentation. the food is all really great and lacks no creativity. splendid service! i think the food is a tad overpriced. however, the wine is priced quite well.

great food but.... a bit overpriced. the ostrich (special dish that tre did on top chef) was fantastic and their desserts are freakin amazing! and i very rarely take more than one bite of my wife's desserts. i ended up ordering my own here. pastry chef is genius.

good, but not great, or worth the cost. so, i just went to abacus this past friday with my parents, and two friends. the place is wonderfully decorated, as most fusion restaurants (a la roy's) are. it was just renovated as i understand it, and i am happy that it was.

the service was very good, as our waiter scott kept refilling our wine glasses. he even gave us a free dessert!

the food however was not top notch like the place would indicate. i liked what i ordered. i ordered the off menue buffalo tenderloin. it was cooked rare, the way that i feel a steak should be cooked. we ordered the lobster shooters. i was absolutely amazed as to how good these were. when they were brought to us, i was kinda skeptical because they looked like a small helping of tomato soup. they turned out to be the best thing on the menu.

the one dish that was not so good, was the new ahi tuna dish that was just put on the menu. i felt that the tuna was bland, and really was devoid of any strong flavor.

we also got complementary desserts, which i felt were inadequate because the portion was too small. the one that i thought was the best were the marshmellow lollipops. i really wanted the desserts to have a powerful taste that i wouldn't forget, but it just wasn't the case.

my opinion about abacus is that it was a good dining experience, but if you want to pay 100 dollars per person, it better be a great dining experience.
