this is a cozy little place, but the intimacy was perfect for our party of four. the wines and menu left little room for critique -- our food was magic. i look forward to coming back!

this restaurant has piqued a lot of local intrigue and as much as we have read about how great this place is, we finally mustered up the time to go to a table apart. the restaurant is situated in the old bonita shores neighborhood in a land of old strip malls that line bonita beach road on everyone’s journey to the beach. there are a few popular local hot spots in the area, but you might miss this place if you sneeze or get distracted by the beautiful sunset of southwest florida.

we sat at the bar, and took advantage of their lovely prix fixe menu. they also had a special running with a free bottle of house wine or 50% for bottles under $100. the prix fixe menu is 3 courses: a shared appetizer, a soup or salad and then a choice 6 different sumptuous entrées. our server did a great job of using descriptors to entice us with a ton of choices. even after studying the menu for quite some time and wanted to come in guns-a-blazing like we were regulars, we knew that we had to go off the beaten path and get the tripletail and sample their loco moco poutine.

i wasn’t sure whether to gobble it up because it was so good or to savor every little bite. we started off with their hawaiian kalua pig quesadilla – tea leaf braised pork, provolone & queso fresco served with a balsamic onion confit and chipotle tomato jam. we thought it the quesadilla was very rich and it worked incredibly well with the confit and jam. the shredded pork had some really nice earthy flavors. however, the loco moco poutine was my favorite out of the apps. the gravy had some complexity going on which really means that it was made with love. also, i find any dish sexy with an egg on it. the spicy tomato bisque was the soup of the day and that was heaven. rich and creamy, but not super heavy either.

my entrée choice was the house-cured kurobuta pork ribeye served with a caramelized onion “soublise”, watercress and shaved green apple and red onion salad. the play on the hearty with freshness and acidity was a lovely balance. the texture was surprisingly unfamiliar. i thought what have might been dry pork, was a lovely cured texture and taste reminiscent to cured ham or bacon. and it’s just perfect when you get a bite with some nutty fresh watercress or green apple. my husband had the tripletail as his entrée served with asparagus and rice. he said that it was the best fish dish he ever tasted, and that says a lot for a picky palate.

our wonderful foodie journey ended on a high note with some kona french pressed coffee and a filipino-inspired sweet potato pie. the texture was spot on…not too dense, and not too sweet.

so, for an unassuming place, this local hot spot is quite the hidden gem. i even have reports from other friends that had incredible meals and incredible service. kudos to the owners and his whole culinary team! i’ll definitely be back!

"assaulted by the salt"! th.... "assaulted by the salt"!
this restaurant could be really great, but everything is wayyyyy over salted. my first time eating here but went with others that had been here before. i had been warned that the food was "on the salty side" here but nothing prepared me for the salt burns i received on my tongue and in my mouth!!
i'm not certain if this is what the local clientele prefers but the levels of salt in and on everything from entrees to side dishes drowned any possibility of tasting the complex flavors of the locally sourced ingredients.
i highly recommend asking for no added salt on your dishes and the salty sauces on the side.
i had the flat iron steak and the butter sauce on it tasted like buttery salt water.
i tasted a companion's grilled fish and the fish must've been encrusted with salt to get a good grill/char on it.
great service, nice ambience in a small place but please, before you kill off all your clientele, back off on the salt!!!

my husband and i went to a table apart for our anniversary trip and it was phenomenal!!! we were in hawaii last year for our honeymoon and i have to say dinner at a table apart may have been better than any seafood meal we had there! top it off with the sweet potato pie and you will not be able to walk out of the place! we would definitely highly recommend to any one in the area :)

a table apart. we went there based on the reviews! what a disappointment in our meals and food delivery. we bought wine, ordered appetisers, salad and entrees, after the appetisers and salad we waited over 45 minuties. our servier said it would be there within a few minutes, no entrees. we asked another server who brought the manager out and she said we had a problem in the kitchen. i said, that's not our problem. after a month of reservations, we expected more. she asked, what can i do? i responded, why dont yo9u tell me. we will never go back, with a bill of over $120 and not one appology, we don't think the service, or the food warrants our experience. we live here 12 months out the year and we will not be treated this way! we won't be back!

lives up to its name. would highly recommend the perfectly grilled arctic char (a cross between salmon and trout), chorizo mussels, and their portabella mushroom stuff edwith warmed goat cheese topped with chopped tomatoes (they call it their "crustless pizza). their pommes frites which sound intriguing were the only disappointment -- not hot enough, thin enough or crispy enough, but minor problem which didn't impede enjoyment of rest of meal. other innovative menu items for next time. do make reservations as they were packed on a weeknight.

this is a very pleasant mom and pop restaurant that serves amazing foods. the husband chef is from hawaii, and you can tell by many of the dish descriptions of his influence. the wife is from paris, and that is evident too.
