food is okay. the fry selection sounds good, but generally unappetizing. the burgers are passable, but not miraculous.

won't be back. arrived at 10:45 and all they offered was an extremely limited late night menu of about 6 items. nothing on it was appealing. i tried the house fries; they were barely edible. unless you're going for the beer, stay away.

all the beef is grass-fed from virginia and the patties are 80/20 percent lean meat to fat ratio. hence the name. pretty simplistic but it gets the point across. for those not into beef, there are other options like appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. 80/20 burger bar has a nice draft beer selection as well as bottled beers.

my wife and i attempted to have dinner at 80/20 burger bar yesterday evening. we were greeted and seated right away in a professional manner. i used the term attempted, because after we were seated, no one made an attempt to come over to our table and acknowledge that we were even there. as someone who has managed restaurants before, i definitely understand that you just can't make over to the table immediately, but after 10 minutes of sitting there i began to survey the room. there was only 2 other tables that had guests sitting at them and being waited on. a total of 4 people. there was an additional 2 people having a drink at the bar. so there should not been any excuse as to why no one came to our table and at least brought over a glass of water at a minimum. so after 20 minutes, i determined that they just didn't want our business and decided to leave.

pros: good food at decent prices, late night menu available, covered outdoor seating, very large restaurant for the area
cons: bathrooms are gross and small, service is hit or miss

food is good and beer list is solid. wait time for food is long long long long. almost not worth coming for time to serve food. this place would be 4 stars if the wait for the food was not that long

i finally got the opportunity to visit 80/20 burger bar. i would have done so earlier but i'm not usually in downtown norfolk at night. but now i was. so with that said, very cool environment. definitely not a place for kids. but a very cool place for hanging with pals. i had the "up an at em" burger. it was awesome. served with a delicious fried egg, crispy bacon, cheddar. i topped with mayo, lettuce and pickles. this thing was of da chain! as you could imagine they have a hoppin' bar crowd, it's a bit noisy, but it's cool. i reccomend 80/20! good food cold libations and a fun time! check em out!

we tried 80/20 last night. the food was good and the prices were reasonable. they do a poor job of maximizing space, there was plenty of room to add tables. with that being said, at times our waitress was hard to find and although the appetizers were quick, the gap between their delivery and our entrees was slightly unreasonable. they seem to promote local sourcing. we liked their homemade alfredo served with the giant mozzarella sticks and highly recommend them. the potato skins were your basic skins, no wow factor. we each ordered different aioli on our fries, thinking it would be on the side to dip. the fries come coated in the aioli of your choice. none of the three packed any superb flavor. we ordered the uncle jesse, the redneck wellington, and mellow mushrooms. the menu states each burger comes with lettuce and tomato on the side although none of our entrees came out with either. mellow mushrooms, made at the restaurant, was a huge hit. this is not your run of the mill vegan burger. it is a healthy size patty on top of a delicious bun served with a herb aioli. the redneck wellington was a hit with my 14 year old, saving half for her lunch the next day. i opted for the uncle jesse. the idea of spinach, feta, and beef wrapped in filo dough sounded delicious. for the most part it was but slightly on the dry side and again, lacking any wow factor.

for the price and the alfredo dipping sauce, we will be back. the staff is friendly and they did an excellent job of staying on top of the wait list and getting tables seated. we will be in for brunch soon.

i have not been to 80/20 for anything but their brunch but based on that alone, i am sure their burgers are amazing. my fiancee got a biscuit sandwich and i got their new puff pastry brunch dish and they were both amazing! the prices of the food and drinks are excellent. our server was serving about 6 tables but she was still very fast and didn't forget anything we ordered or asked about.
i will definitely go back to try out their burgers!

this place was just terrible and suffers from delusions of grandeur brought on by wannabe foodies. the buns were too frail to hold the burger-who puts a medium burger on a bun liked that? that's sandwich bread, not burger bread. everything was covered in salt and lacked flavor to make up for it. grrrr.

so far a burger joint that does not serve burgers until after 3 pm. service is slow at best. the joint ( not restaurant) is so loud at 1:00 pm on a non-sport day that you can't have a conversation at the table. service leaves a lot to be desired and some concern looms over a kitchen that can only cook and serve what is listed on "today's " menu. no variations like...the kitchen cannot make a grilled cheese sandwich since it isn't in the menu??? who can't make a grilled cheese??? wrong order!!! enough said...i can only speak for
myself i won't darken their door step again...

try another place instead. we came here hoping for some great food, but the only thing great was our staff and the beers. we ordered fries with our burgers. they were terrible, covered in seasonings. it was no accident either, everyone elses fries were that saturated too. they were so salty, we felt our lips withering with every bite. the border fries were okay but had too much coriander and cumin to even taste the potato in the fries. bottom line, the fries were over seasoned. cheese sticks... no, lets not. deviled eggs? no, lets not review thoe in detail either, bt please know it wasn't good.
burgers cooked perfectly- as in only the meat. the "fried egg" the waitress told me about was poached and over cooked- not as runny as i had hoped for and my soul died there at the table.the buns were too light to handle all the burger juices *and* butter that they slapped on them. don't eat pan fried burgers expecting them to be tasty. they will not be tasty they will be unjustifiably greasy. my burger looked delicious but tasted like nothing at all.. no flavor, just grease. not even seasoned grease just boring clean oil. i drowned my sorrows in beer while trying not to heave from all the grease and was terrified i might die from a heart attack right there between all the grease, salt and my delicious beer. if they just eased up on the salt in their seasonings for the fries, they'd be terrific. if they changed their buns to something more dense and flavorful the burgers would be more palatable but brioche isn't the winner for this dinner. classic case of good restaurant gone bad but kept alive by people like me looking for a good burger and hipsters with low self esteem and taste buds burnt out from years of smoking. go to cookout instead and save yourself $30.

finally got to try 80/20 tonight and was less than impressed. the burgers lacked seasoning/flavor and the dry buns fell apart too easily. the mac n cheese had no flavor whatsoever... had to add a bunch of salt to get any taste at all. on a positive note, the cheese sticks app was very good thanks to the large size of the sticks and the alfredo sauce that accompanied it. must say that the staff was ultra friendly and we didn't have to wait long for the food.
