a recent addition to parnell's ever increasing food scene, 3 nutmegs sits at the top of parnell road just out of the central food scene here. we recently went here just for takeaways and were quietly blown away with the quality of the food.
having not eaten in here, i can't comment too much about the interior and the subsequent atmosphere. however, when waiting here for my order the place was very quiet but had a simple and clean feel. it maybe lacks a little personality in this front with no real identity coming through with the interior, but, this should not take away from the amazing food.
the food here is excellent. it is fresh, simple and authentic. this place is definitely up there as one of the best indian restaurants in auckland. this time round we played it simple and safe by getting the butter chicken and allium saagwala. both were absolutely delicious! the lamb in the saag was wonderfully tender, and the same with the chicken. we also got the southern fried fish - this was to die for! i absolutely loved this, and it was a perfect alternative to fried chicken whilst providing a taste of southern india. from this small experience i cannot wait to try more here, as the rest of the menu really does look delicious.
the staff are also really friendly and the service was good. it took a little while (around 40 minutes), but it was definitely worth the wait.
overall, i think this is a must try if you are looking for some genuinely tasty and authentic indian food. this is definitely some of the best in auckland and i would not hesitate to recommend.
