1951 west

for my main course, i ordered the cajun tenderloin, which was a featured dinner entree. the meat was an 8 ounce tenderloin with a maple bacon topping. on the side was a dijon pesto mashed potato, caramelized brussels sprouts, baby carrots, and roasted butternut squash. drizzled on top of the whole thing was a cranberry balsamic reduction. i never order beef, i'm more of a chicken person, but this is one of the best pieces of meat that i have ever had. and the cajun crust on the outside sent it over the edge. it had quite a bit of kick, but in a good way.

always great food..... we have always had great food and service. weddings are very well planned and organized, no one leaves hungary. would highly recommend.

terrible wedding venue. i had a wedding reception here. they were understaffed, served filthy dishes, and didn't have the tables cleared until 10:30pm, well after the dance had started. i would not recommend this establishment for your special day as mine was less that special!

always good food at moderate prices. warm atmosphere. prompt service.

mixed reviews. we went in with a group and while the two waiters did a good job, the food was all over the place. my wife had the crabmeat appetiser, which was inedible and i had a burger, which was fair. the lady next to me had ribs and a baked potato which came out cold and while the waiter offered to have it reheated, she didn't feel like waiting. her husband's food was also cold. another person enjoyed her salmon while another wasn't thrilled with the jambalaya. there are too many better places in town to waste our time and money on this type of inconsistencies.

weird potato chips.... the jelly on the potato chips was different.... but the filet mignon was super great! they made it perfect.

i might give them one more chance. you know, for as many people rave about the brunch being so awesome, i was highly disappointed. we brought family from out of town here and when we got there, the service was inattentive and slow, and the quality of the food was what i would expect from a hotel continental breakfast. the dessert area was drab and barren and the hot food was also sad looking.
we thought that maybe the brunch was a bad representaion of an "american" style restaurant and looking at other reviews i thought that maybe we should try the dinner menu to give it a fair try. it, too, was a let down. again, the server was m.i.a. for the first ten minutes( there were only 10 tables in the dining room when we were there). we ordered drinks ( it took another ten minutes for those) and then we ordered our appetizers and entrees. the apps arrived in about 15 minutes, and our salads followed the apps far too closely(we had our apps for about 8 minutes). thinking that the entrees were going to come quickly, we quickly ate our salads and soup. we then waited 23 minutes for the entrees. in our eyes, this was an unacceptable wait and without an apology for the wait either. i ordered the sesame seared tuna, which is supposed to come cooked medium rare. i recieved my food and three quarters of the tuna was over cooked to medium. whoever is in charge of overseeing the food coming out of the kitchen or making sure the food is prepared as the customer requests it. i might give 1951 west another try but it will be a while. will i ever reccomend this restaurant to anyone? highly doubtful.

1951 west is just like every other restaurant in green bay: nothing to get excited for and the chances of leaving satisfied are not to good.
the management should look at re-training their staff.
the menu sounded delicious but the actual product was far from delicious.

good nothing great. been here about 4 times and while many of the items on the menu sound good, which is what's brought me back, every time i've left thinking everything was just ok. lack of flavor and unpredictable cooking have been the two big negatives, my grilled portabella sandwich was basically cold while in another visit the ribs were burnt with little sauce. wait times can also be unpredictable. each time i've been there the restaurant was far from packed but by the amount of time it took to get our food and check on a couple of occasions you could of swore there was an hour wait to get in. overall i would recommend it if you're looking for some variety or something new, just don't expect to be blown away.

always a crowd pleaser. we have been to 1951 west quite a few times. the bar is great and very large, especially when meeting up with friends and family. we've also hosted a bridal shower there and the staff was very helpful. the food was fantastic and our guests were very pleased. a must try is the broasted chicken...delish!

best in green bay. 1951 bar/restaurant has a tremendous atmosphere with a very courteous staff. the bar has a wide range of liquor and the restaurant offers a number of unique options. the food is always very well prepared. we always stop when we are in the green bay area.

above average. we love going to 1951 when we visit green bay. the food is consistently delicious and the service above average. one of the things we like the best is the non-smoking atmosphere. it's definitely a step above the average restaurant.

horrible brunch.. took the family here for a sunday brunch on valentines day. reservations for 12:30. they got around to seating us at about 1:15-1:30. hostess seated us, and we waited for the waiter. after 10 mins, we said screw it, and went up to the buffet. food was not up to par from what others have said. the "eggs" looked like yellow cottage cheese. stuffing had the consistency and taste of paste. biscuits were good. chicken was good. desert table, well, depends on when you went. we saw some people with good looking cheese cake, but when we all went up, nothing but cream puffs (were hard as a rock) and lemon cake. waiter finally shows up, says "would you like anything else besides water?". 1/2 way through, we see another table, and their waitress asks which type of juice they would like, because it was included. our waiter never offered that. we never got a chance to ask about it, because the next time we saw him, he brought the bill. he brings the bill and says "i'll take that when ever you are ready" no "how was your meal?" "can i get you anything else?" god forbid we wanted coffee. to top it off, when we were walking out the door, overheard a manager type telling a waiter "give it another 5 mins before we start asking people to leave. understandable you quit serving at 2pm, but asking people to leave at the stroke of 2? give me a break. if you are overbooked, get more staff, or decline reservations. we will never return.

great!. went to dinner at 1951 west and had a wonderful time. the service was phenomenal! our waitress was at our table within a minute of us being sat and immediately took our drink order. she brought our drinks and helped us decide what we should get for dinner. she suggested there prime rib explaining that it's the best in green bay (bias?) but she was right! the prime rib was sooo tender and juicy! i recommend everyone go here to have prime rib. the food was consistently good throughout our entire dinner. bread, salad, entree. a sweet young manager stopped by to ask us how every thing was, which was nice and appreciated. our service was wonderful and the knowledge of our adorable big dimpled waitress was great! food and drinks couldn't have been better. we will be returning there on wednesday or saturday for there prime rib special!! clean, friendly, relaxing atmosphere!

hmmmmmm..... i just returned from 1951 west, after celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. it was the first time we had eaten here, feeling confident that we would have a great fine dining experience......1951 came very highly recommended.

i was very disappointed. although we had a reservation and were seated immediately, we waited a full hour before our entrees arrived. when they did arrive, my salmon was a little dry (disappointing!), my baby red potato was undercooked, and my coleslaw was laying under the plank that held my salmon - not very pleasing presentation.

i will not be returning, and would be hard pressed to recommend 1951 west.

great!!!. everything that i had at 1951 west was fantastic. we stayed at the comfort suites hotel adjoining and did not know what to expect with a restaurant connected. this was not your typical hotel restaurant. the decor was downtown chicago with an atmosphere of green bay casual. the food was great and service superb. there is clearly some pride taken in this restaurant by everyone we ran into. i give 1951 west an a+. a great place to go to get away from the stuffy supper club atmosphere we found in other green bay restaurants.
